Cindy Reed

Cindy Reed was captivated by the high energy and welcoming spirit of East St. Louis Community Camp when she began volunteering in 2009 as a  summer camp instructor.

She has been committed ever since and has found ways to share her educational expertise and passion for East St. Louis youth by designing camp curriculum, serving as the lead camp instructor, and serving on the camp board.

Cindy is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in American Studies and researches African American literature, black girlhood, and East St. Louis. She enjoys a good story, writing poetry, eating anything her husband cooks, spending time with family, serving the community with her sorority Sigma Gamma Rho, and laughing/chatting/dancing with her son. The way
to her heart is through bacon, music, and pickles.
