Jeanne Murphey

Jeanne’s first involvement with the youth of E. St. Louis began in 1967.  She was a part of the staff for a weekly Bible School meeting in the YEWO at 26th and Missouri.  Her husband Barry was the Pastor of the Bible School.  Participation in the Bible School ended in 1970 when Barry was asked to Pastor a congregation in E. St. Louis, which he did for 5 years.  Then in 1976 he was asked to Pastor the Community of Christ (formerly RLDS) congregation in E. St. Louis and he and Jeanne spent the next 4 years there.

Barry was actively involved with ESLCC from its very beginning, and held many positions – Camp Director and staff person, Treasurer and Grant writer, and whatever was needed.  He was passionately involved until his death in 2012.

Jeanne became a board member in 2012 after his death.  She is an Evangelist for Community of Christ, and has also been a Pastor.  Her education is in the field of Sociology in which she has a Master’s Degree.
